Our team combines advanced training, deep technical knowledge, and specialized equipment to remove problem trees efficiently and with minimal impact to your property. Living at high elevation in the Telluride region comes with a unique wildfire risk shaped by steep terrain, dense forests, and changing mountain weather. At Telluride Arborist, we provide thoughtful, site-specific defensible space and vegetation management designed for real mountain conditions. We may recommend practical treatments such as tree removal, vegetation thinning, and clearance around structures to reduce risk and protect your home. Our goal is to lower wildfire danger while preserving the health, beauty, and long-term stability of your forest. With more than two decades of experience in the San Juan Mountains, we understand how to protect homes and care for trees responsibly in this environment.
-
Trees are valuable assets, but in mountain environments they can also pose real risks to people, homes, and infrastructure. At Telluride Arborist, hazard and risk assessment is one of our core areas of expertise. We specialize in identifying structural defects, declining health, and site conditions that may increase the likelihood of failure. We offer both ground-based and climbing inspections, along with clear written reports, to help you understand the condition of your trees and the level of risk they present. From there, we develop practical maintenance and mitigation plans so you can make informed, science-based decisions that protect your property while preserving healthy trees whenever possible.

Working With Telluride Arborist®
-
Text, call, email, or fill out our request form to get started.
Texting photos is often the fastest and most helpful way for us to understand the scope of work before scheduling a visit. If you have timing concerns, an upcoming event, construction schedule, HOA request, insurance issue, or safety concern, let us know upfront so we can plan accordingly.ption text goes here
-
Most projects begin with a site visit so we can evaluate the trees, access, terrain, surrounding structures, and overall property goals in person.
Properties in the Telluride region are often complex. Steep terrain, snow loads, wildfire considerations, neighboring homes, utility lines, permitting, and limited access can all affect how tree work is planned and performed safely.
During the visit, we may discuss:
• Tree health and preservation
• Hazard or high risk trees
• Wildfire mitigation and defensible space
• Pruning priorities
• Removals and access logistics
• Planting recommendations
• HOA or Town permitting requirements
• Long term property goalsAfter the visit, we’ll walk you through recommendations, priorities, timing, and next steps.
-
Once approved, we’ll get your project on the schedule and keep you updated along the way. We work hard to communicate clearly about timing and will let you know when to expect our crew onsite.
Mountain weather, emergency storm work, utility locates, permitting, and seasonal conditions can occasionally shift schedules, but we always aim to communicate proactively and realistically.
-
Our crew arrives ready to work safely, efficiently, and respectfully around your home, landscape, and property.
Whether we’re pruning, removing hazardous trees, performing wildfire mitigation, planting, or managing larger forestry projects, our goal is always the same: thoughtful work done correctly with as little disruption to your property as possible.
-
Once work is completed, we’ll email or text your invoice along with any important notes, photos, or follow up recommendations related to the project.
Scheduling Telluride Arborist® and authorizing work onsite confirms approval to perform the requested services and responsibility for payment upon completion.
We believe tree work should feel organized, communicative, straightforward, and easy from start to finish.
We are a family-run business.
